After eleven months of inactivity due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Futsal Department of the Mercedes Soccer League launched last weekend the Preparatory Tournament 2021, which will end in April and will serve as a prelude to the start of the Apertura Championship .
With the sports centers of the Normal School and the Alberdi club as venues, indoor soccer faced the first date with a total of 19 games, corresponding to the First, Second and Third Division and the Reserve. It is expected that next week the Sub 18 and Veterans will join, thus demonstrating that it is one of the disciplines that has grown the most in recent times.
In the long-awaited return, one of the most attractive matches was played by La Quema and Nihuil, two of the usual protagonists in the Villamercedino futsal championships. The confrontation took place on Sunday at the Alberdi club and resulted in an even and vibrant clash that ended with a 2-2 draw.
A while later, Los Rústicos, the last representative in the national tournaments, easily got rid of Leicester by 6 to 3. The day was completed with the 8 to 5 victory of Frescas Bar over Lafinur, and the 5-5 draw between Tamo Activo and Los Celtic.
As for the Second Division, it registered five games that were played on Saturday at the Normal School. The results of the opening date were the following: Asociación del Oeste 7-La Franja 2, Sp. Libertad 4-Tres Esquinas 6, Timaos 6-ATE II 1, Mercedes Futsal 5-Unión y Libertad 4, and Los Primos 11-Sp . Pueyrredón 8.
Along with the First and Second Division, the Third and Reserve teams also kicked off the Preparatory Tournament, seeking to register as candidates and win filming for the Opening Championship.
In Third Division, the results were: San José 4-Colegiales 3, Sportivo Pringles 8-San Cayetano 2, Alianza 7-Sportivo Mercedes 3 and La Ribera 4-Los Pumas 3.
Meanwhile, in Reserve there were three wins and two draws: Tamo Activo 2-Los Celtic 7, Mercedes Futsal 1-Frescas Bar 5, Los Primos 2-La Ribera 7, La Quema 4-La Franja 4 and Nihuil 3-Defensores del This 3.
Without public and with tests
Compliance with the protocols determined by the Sports Program of the province was important in the return of Villamercedino indoor soccer. “We started a massive testing campaign last week, in this way we ensured that the players were in good health,” said Mario Echevarría, president of the Mercedes Soccer League.
Maximiliano Bringas, in charge of the Futsal Department, indicated: “Each player, upon entering, had to show the Epidemiological Surveillance 4.0 application with their certificate of negativity; in addition to the temperature controls, locker room closures and, obviously, play without public”.
This Tuesday and Wednesday, from 16 to 20:30 in the League, the testing campaign will continue with the categories that have not yet started the season.
