After it was announced during the week that CBS is not only discontinuing an “NCIS” spinoff (in New Orleans), but is also planning a new one (in Hawaii), “Variety” and “Deadline” now also report plans for one another offshoot of the “FBI” series. That doesn’t come as a surprise, since it is based on franchise specialist Dick Wolf, who is also responsible for the “Law & Order” universe and the “Chicago” series. In any case, “FBI” and “FBI: Most Wanted” should also be dealt with “FBI: International” companions. As the name suggests, it is about the international activities of the FBI, which maintains branches in numerous countries and also works there with local investigative authorities. That the series “The Equalizer” would have a strong debut due to the slot right after the Super Bowl was out of the question – but a guarantee that things would go well on the regular slot is not, as experience over the past few years has shown. But the new edition of the classic with Queen Latifah now also cut a really good figure a week after the Super Bowl: 8.2 million viewers tuned in on Sunday – that was of course significantly less than the 20 million in the previous week, but it is still moving Series in an area that is currently only surpassed by “NCIS”. In the target group, with a rating of 0.9 percent, things didn’t look that good anymore, but CBS can live with this value too. The new “Silence of the Lambs” series “Clarice”, on the other hand, got off to a rather sobering start on Thursday last week with only four million viewers and a target group rating of 0.5 percent.
CBS has its “Young Sheldon”, NBC now “Young Rock”. The new sitcom, which is about the childhood of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, made a really good debut on Tuesday: 5.3 million viewers saw the first episode, the target group rating was 1.0 percent. “Kenan” could not quite maintain this quota level afterwards, but it was still solid with 4.2 million viewers and 0.8 percent in the target group. Meanwhile, ABC started on Sunday “American Idol” into a new season – the 19th overall, the fourth since switching to ABC. Almost seven million viewers followed the start, the rating among 18 to 49 year olds was 1.2 percent. With this, “Idol” was roughly on par with the quota level for young and old that was achieved on average over the entire season last year. However, the season opener was a lot more successful with just over eight million viewers. In all likelihood, even with this format, one should ultimately have to reckon with decreasing reach in classic TV for the entire season.

Meanwhile, HBO is happy about the great success of “The Undoing”. It was broadcast a while ago, but here, too, a high proportion is only collected gradually. The series now has 12.3 million viewers, making it the most watched HBO series of the past year.
