The London team will try to retain their current coach, David Moyes, after a very good season at the helm of the ‘Hammers’. The current contract runs until 2022.

While the current West Ham manager has executed the clause that keeps him in charge of the team until 2022, the English club is determined to renew its stay in East London. ANDn just over a year, Moyes changed the team’s competitive mindset by breaking out of the low spots in the Premier League. The coach has transformed the ‘Hammers’ into candidates for European positions.

West Ham are currently fifth with 42 points, beating Liverpool and closely following Chelsea. Only 4 points separate him from Manchester United and Leicester City. The campaign, up to now, has been made up of 12 wins over 24 games played, 6 draws and 6 losses.

Despite enjoying this moment, Moyes assures that he needs commitment from the directors to implement structural changes in the club. Particularly in areas such as scouting and especially in signings.

In that sense, David Sullivan and David Gold, heads of the ‘Hammer’ leadership, have been paving the way to comply with what the Scottish coach says. The signings of Jarrod Bowen (24), Tomas Soucek (25) and Vladimir Coufal (28) are examples of what the manager is looking for to return West Ham to Europe: players with a desire for success.

Another of the big bets was the loan signing of Jesse Lingard. It took the former Manchester United 56 minutes to make his debut as a scorer, converting a double in a 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Moyes knew to see that Lingard (28 years old) had lost his place in the ‘Red Devils’, so he convinced him to change of scene in the middle of the season. The player aims to be part of the call-up of the England team for the European Championship to be played in June.

Notably, West Ham have the 10th most expensive squad in the Premier League. The investment reaches a total of 256 million euros. In the top 3 are: Liverpool (979 million euros) – Manchester City (944 million euros) and Chelsea (749 million euros).
