A woman was hospitalized after being found injured in a street attack on Co Antrim.

The police received a report Friday around 10:40 pm on a woman found injured at the intersection of Ballybollen Road and Glebe Road, reportedly involved in an accident.

The police escorted the scene along with the ambulance service, which took the woman to a hospital to treat injuries, including her legs and face.

The women stay in the hospital.

A man aged 18 was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in detention.

Detective Sergeant Peter Crothers said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Ahoghill area last night and saw what happened when he picked up the phone and tell us what you know.

"I would also appeal to anyone who saw two vehicles last night between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm – a gray Volkswagen Golf and a gray Vauxhall Corsa, coming from the cinema parking lot on the Larne Road Link in Ballymena towards Ahoghill or who detects the movements of the vehicles on their dash cam.

"Anyone with information that they believe could support our investigation is kindly requested to call us at number 101 and quote Reference 2183 dated 11.08.19."
