Wreck of Titanic was hit by a submarine but the United States government kept quiet, the court said

Tthe RMS Titanic wreck was hit by a submarine last year, but the incident was kept secret by the United States government.

Officials never revealed that a $ 35 million underwater vehicle hired by a British adventure company had hit the sunken liner, according to legal documents seen by the Telegraph.

The expedition leader on Tuesday admitted that the cutting-edge Triton submarine collided with the wreck in July when “intense and highly unpredictable currents” caused the pilot to lose control. It is the first collision with the Titanic made public since the wreckage was rediscovered in 1985.

Organized by EYOS Expeditions, an Isle of Man based adventure company, the trip was accompanied by scientists from the University of Newcastle and was the first dive in the Titanic for nearly 15 years.

It was equipped with the $ 35 million Triton DSV Limiting Factor, the only submarine in the world capable of diving below 7,000 m.

Upon his return, the expedition made headlines worldwide after revealing that the famous captain’s bathtub had disappeared within the deteriorating wreck.
