MÁLAGA, Apr 7. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Xiaomi and the Malaga Film Festival have signed an agreement for the 24th edition of the Spanish-language film contest, which will take place from June 4 to 13.
With this alliance, the Xiaomi shorts section is born, parallel to the Official Section of the Festival, and the Xiaomi Silver Biznaga for the best photograph, as reported in a statement.
Xiaomi and the Malaga Festival come together in this way to democratize creation, offering a platform in which talent competes only with talent, under the same technical conditions: all those with access to a Xiaomi mobile phone will be able to participate in the section of Xiaomi shorts parallel to the Festival. “Without entry barriers: only their ability and their ideas,” they have pointed out.
The objective of this new section is to promote and give visibility to “amateur” talent: that of all those who cannot make large investments in equipment or have access to the professional circuits for the exhibition of their work. A lot of talent that on many occasions does not get to see the light, beyond that of digital platforms, where it is lost among the millions of contents that are uploaded every day.
The Malaga Festival and Xiaomi highlight the importance of this alliance of an international technology company with a great implantation and future in the country and one of the most outstanding events on the national cultural scene, which year after year strengthens its international dimension. “An alliance that reinforces the commitment of both with the talent, the new creators, the culture and its diffusion”.
“For Xiaomi it is a pride to be able to collaborate with the renowned Malaga Festival and thus endorse our commitment to talent and creativity. We want to make available to audiovisual creators the potential of the cameras of our flagship Mi 11, a smartphone
with first-rate cameras and a film performance, “said Borja Gómez-Carrillo, Xiaomi’s country manager in Spain.
The 24 Malaga Festival will be held from June 4 to 13 and the organization and capacity will be adapted to the health situation, as happened in the last edition.
In it, 152 films were programmed in 262 sessions and had almost 65,000 spectators and participants in the different activities, who at all times respected current health regulations. An edition for which the Cultural Observatory prepared by the Contemporary Foundation places the Malaga Festival as the first cultural event at the Andalusian level and the eleventh at the national level, in addition to qualifying it as “cultural insignia 2020”.
