A popular beauty YouTuber has emerged as a transsexual for her 12 million subscribers with a touching video.
Nikkie de Jager, known online as NikkieTutorials, revealed that her YouTube channel was created during the transition and thanked her mother for supporting her from day one.
The Dutch star, who worked with Jessie J and Lady Gaga, released the video online Monday under the title ‘I’m Coming Out’.
She said it had been blackmailed by people who threatened to lose her story and so decided to release the video on her terms.
“Today I’m here to share something with you that I’ve always wanted to share with you one day, but in my own circumstances, and it seems that that possibility has been taken away from me,” said the 25-year-old.
“So today, I’m taking back my power and I have to tell you something.”
Nikkie said that “she never felt comfortable with labels” but she wanted to live “without rules”, adding: “I want to start the year with the truth”.
“When I was younger, I was born in the wrong body, which means I’m transgender,” revealed Nikkie.
“It’s so surreal to say it. Shooting this video is scary, but it’s so liberating and liberating. I’ve wanted to share this side of me with you all for so long, but I never understood the timing.”
Nikkie started identifying as a girl from the age of six when she grew her hair, and said at school “some kids took it and some other kids in my class didn’t.”
He went on to thank the teachers at his school who supported her and revealed that he had been taking hormones since he was 14, in addition to using “growth caps”, before going completely to age 19.
Nikkie is engaged to Dylan and the couple are said to be facing the situation privately, preferring to keep their relationship out of the public light.
“It’s me,” he said. “I’m still Nikkie. Nothing changes.
“The last thing I want in my life is that you don’t trust me anymore, or you look at me with different eyes, or you look at me in a different way or you think you’ve changed.”
He added, “This sounds liberating and liberating, but in the end, I’m still Nikkie.”
Nikkie said he hopes his story will inspire others to be themselves.
“You are responsible for how you want to live your life.”
