Cadbury Nigeria board names Salami chairman
Dr. Rasaq Adedoyin Salami has stepped into the role of Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria, succeeding Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman. Mrs. Uwa Osa-Oboh also joined the board.
Dr. Rasaq Adedoyin Salami has stepped into the role of Chairman, succeeding Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman. The transitions took effect on August 3, 2026. Afolasade Olowe, the Company Secretary, communicated the board restructuring to the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public.
The outgoing chairman, Mr. Sulaiman, stepped down after completing a tenure that spanned multiple years in leadership. According to Punchng coverage, he initially joined the board as a Non-Executive Director and later assumed the chairmanship. His professional background includes extensive experience in management consulting, enterprise transformation, organizational development, and corporate governance. He previously worked with Arthur Andersen & Co., Andersen Consulting, and Accenture, retiring as Country Managing Director and Chairman of Accenture Nigeria.

Beyond his corporate executive duties, Mr. Sulaiman has held governance seats with organizations such as ABSA Nigeria, SecureID Limited, and Interswitch Limited, alongside chairing the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. Reflecting on the departure, Cadbury Nigeria Managing Director Mr. Ayman Fahmy Gaafar commended the outgoing leader for adding significant value to the organization and helping the business navigate turbulent times over the course of his association with the firm.

The incoming chairman brings an extensive background in economics, public policy, academia, and corporate governance. Dr. Salami joined the board as an Independent Non-Executive Director before elevation to the chairmanship. He co-founded KAINOS Edge Consulting Ltd, an applied economics advisory firm where he serves as Chief Executive Officer. His private-sector governance experience covers logistics, insurance, asset management, pensions, and infrastructure, including previous leadership on the boards of Prestige Assurance Plc and ARM Investment Managers Ltd.
In the public sphere, Dr. Salami served as Chief Economic Adviser to former President Muhammadu Buhari and chaired the Presidential Economic Advisory Council. His international engagement includes membership in the International Monetary Fund Advisory Group for Sub-Saharan Africa, alongside consultancy work for the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, and the former UK Department for International Development. Academically, he is a member of the adjunct faculty at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, focusing on macroeconomic modeling, manufacturing transformation, financial sector reforms, agricultural competitiveness, and market systems development.
Alongside the chairmanship change, the board welcomed Mrs. Uwa Osa-Oboh as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Mrs. Osa-Oboh serves as Head of Corporate Development at Capital Alliance Nigeria, part of the African Capital Alliance Group. Her career includes serving as Chief Executive Officer of ReStraL Limited, a management consulting firm, and she was called to the Nigerian Bar as a legal practitioner before gaining experience in corporate finance, investment management, and strategy. Newtelegraphng added that her tenure at ReStraL spanned years where she advised corporations and government agencies on strategy and performance improvement, following earlier experience as a Corporate Finance Officer in a merchant bank's leasing and loan syndication department.
Cadbury Nigeria operates as a subsidiary of global snacking company Mondelēz International, producing items such as the Bournvita beverage brand and various confectionery products for consumers across the region.
