Nvidia has dramatically reshaped its public equity profile according to a regulatory filing, revealing a massive $63.4 billion stock portfolio as market conditions shift across the technology business sector. The disclosures detail sweeping financial ties to some of the world's most influential aerospace and semiconductor companies, anchored by gargantuan positions in both Intel and Elon Musk's SpaceX.

The semiconductor leader disclosed ownership of 122.8 million Class A shares in SpaceX. This blockbuster holding was valued at nearly $21 billion when the second quarter concluded on June 30, according to Finbold. The filing marks the first time Nvidia has publicly reported the dollar value of its stake in the aerospace firm following its unprecedented public debut.

That position traces back to an earlier financing arrangement. Nvidia had put money into Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI, which was subsequently folded into SpaceX ahead of its public offering. Additional reporting notes that Nvidia initially committed $10 billion to xAI in January as part of a $20 billion capital raise, while other coverage indicates Nvidia previously put as much as $2 billion into xAI via a specialized financing vehicle designed to purchase processors for massive computing projects.

Following SpaceX's acquisition of xAI through a $1.25 trillion transaction, Nvidia's stake transformed directly into SpaceX ownership. During a recent earnings discussion, Musk announced that the aerospace company will utilize Nvidia chips exclusively across its artificial intelligence computing facilities, praising the hardware as superior for training and deploying advanced AI models. Furthermore, Musk indicated that SpaceX anticipates receiving a significant allocation of Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin GPU platform upon its launch.

Despite the massive scale of the aerospace investment, Intel remains the crown jewel of Nvidia's portfolio. Nvidia held 214.8 million Intel shares valued at roughly $30 billion at the end of the quarter, representing more than 44% of the disclosed portfolio according to Finbold. This investment originated from a $5 billion deal to co-develop chips for personal computers and data centres in a surprise partnership intended to prop up an ailing rival.

The broader portfolio also features substantial stakes in CoreWeave, Nebius Group, Coherent, Nokia, and Synopsys, alongside a smaller position in Generate Biomedicines. Together, Intel and SpaceX account for more than 75% of the total disclosed value, creating a heavily concentrated portfolio.

Market realities have already altered these figures since the close of the quarter. Blockonomi reports that while SpaceX shares were priced at $170.86 at quarter-end, a subsequent market retreat to $140 shrank the value of Nvidia's stake to roughly $17.2 billion. Simultaneously, Intel shares have also retreated from their quarter-end prices, lowering the value of that position to approximately $22 billion according to Blockonomi's analytics, even as it maintains major gains over the original investment.

Nvidia's Major Equity Portfolio Holdings

  • Intel: 214.8 million shares (valued at roughly $30 billion at quarter-end)
  • SpaceX: 122.8 million Class A shares (valued at nearly $21 billion at quarter-end)
  • CoreWeave: Approximately $4.7 billion
  • Nebius Group: Approximately $4.69 billion (or $329 million according to alternative analytics reporting)
  • Coherent: Roughly $3.07 billion
  • Nokia: $2.21 billion
  • Synopsys: $2.15 billion
  • Generate Biomedicines: About $14 million

What happens next will unfold rapidly on the calendar. Nvidia's own fiscal second-quarter financial results are scheduled for release on August 26, which will provide the market with fresh updates on its overarching corporate strategy and financial health.
