UPS commits over $2bn to faster, more resilient global logistics network
On 24 August 2026, UPS announced ongoing investments of more than $2 billion across its International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions businesses. The investments, which began in 2024 and are scheduled to continue through 2028, are designed to increase speed, reliability and control for customers globally as trade routes, regulations and supply chain uncertainty evolve across key markets.
"Customers need end-to-end logistics that match their requirements for visibility, speed and ease," said Kate Gutmann, UPS Executive Vice President and President of International, Healthcare and Supply Chain Solutions.

Several projects are underway as part of this network expansion. A new hub at Clark Airport in the Philippines is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. A new Canadian facility in Barrie, Ontario, is slated for 2027, and a new air hub at Hong Kong International Airport is planned for 2028. These facilities support UPS's recent investments in healthcare, high-tech, automotive and industrial manufacturing sectors.
Existing assets across the network already incorporate advanced capabilities. UPS operates 27 temperature-controlled freight cross-dock facilities optimized for speed and short-term storage between air and ground movements. A tech-enabled logistics center in Taiwan and an expanded Incheon air hub in South Korea feature advanced automation designed to boost processing speeds. Additionally, a UPS Supply Chain Solutions facility in Amsterdam brings freight, brokerage and cold-chain solutions under one roof.
Service enhancements accompany these infrastructure updates. UPS provides an integrated ground network in Europe covering every address on the continent, alongside Saturday delivery in eight leading markets. In Canada, the company operates as the only integrated carrier offering automatic Saturday ground residential delivery and optional Saturday ground commercial delivery. Cross-border services across North America have also been expanded, alongside North American Air Freight capabilities that introduce time-definite heavy air freight service to and from Mexico.
Within the Asia-Pacific region, UPS highlights an intra-Asia air network alongside an extensive network of IATA CEIV Pharma-certified facilities. The company operates flights running five times a week between Paris and Hong Kong, and between Shenzhen and Sydney, to meet growing regional demand.
"UPS didn't just help us move products. They helped us navigate the challenges that came with growth by bringing transportation, brokerage and trade expertise together," said Adam Liu, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Anker.

The company's cold-chain and supply-chain operations connect to broader industry developments. A ResearchAndMarkets report released on 24 August 2026 valued the global black mass recycling market at USD 15.5 billion in 2025 and projected it to reach USD 65 billion by 2035, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 15.2%. The report attributes this expansion to a transition from processing manufacturing waste to managing end-of-life batteries, alongside advancements in recycling technologies and circular-economy initiatives.
Hydrometallurgical processes accounted for a 52% share, generating USD 8.1 billion in 2025, and are projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 15.6% through 2035. Manufacturing scrap held a 34% share in 2025, while the North American black mass recycling market accounted for a 16% share.
UPS reported 2025 revenue of $88.7 billion. The company employs approximately 460,000 workers worldwide and operates in more than 200 countries and territories under its purpose statement, "Moving our world forward by delivering what matters."
Upcoming milestones on the investment timeline include the opening of the Clark Airport hub in the Philippines in the fourth quarter of 2026, the Barrie, Ontario facility in 2027, and the Hong Kong International Airport air hub in 2028.
