Ashley Garibay identified as In-N-Out employee killed in Idaho shooting

Family members and friends have identified Ashley Garibay as the young In-N-Out employee killed during a shooting at the fast-food chain's newly opened restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. The devastating attack unfolded on Saturday, leaving a community in mourning and prompting heartfelt tributes from loved ones across social media.

According to reporting, Garibay was working the drive-thru at the time of the violence. She was taking care of customers when her life was cut short.

Police identified the gunman as Chad Williams. Authorities stated that the gunman opened fire with an AK-style rifle both inside and outside the property before taking his own life.

The tragedy claimed multiple lives. Alongside Garibay, customer Christopher Claunch and another man whose identity has not yet been publicly released died in the attack. Seven other people sustained injuries during the rampage.

Medical updates released by authorities provided a grim picture of the aftermath. As of Sunday, two of the injured individuals were treated and released from the hospital, three remained in stable condition, and two others fought for their lives in critical condition.

In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder released a statement addressing the tragedy. Snyder expressed profound grief over the loss of the young associate.

"My heart is broken, my chest is heavy, my eyes burn from the tears I've shed. We lost one of our beautiful Associates tonight. She was taking care of our most important asset - our Customers, and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn't value the lives of others or his own."

Snyder added that the assailant shot individuals both on and off the restaurant property before ending his own life shortly after taking the lives of the associate and customers.

Among the customers killed was Christopher Claunch, whose sister, Kimberly Castaneda, spoke to reporters about his life. Claunch, who worked at Renaissance Ranch Recovery Center, had celebrated two years of sobriety following a battle with alcoholism. The shooting erupted around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Castaneda recalled her brother's easygoing nature and sense of humour, noting that he had lived in Idaho for about three decades and was thrilled when In-N-Out finally opened its doors in the state so he could enjoy its signature burgers close to home. She also shared memories of spending the Fourth of July holiday with him and how he wore a headband with little tin wheels on it like it was no big deal. Claunch had previously carried the pain of losing his first wife, who died in a car crash just three months after they were married.
