When questioned by law enforcement, the suspect—identified as 38-year-old Malia Nummerdor—acknowledged the existence of the video featuring herself and the dog. According to News24, she strongly denied any sexual contact, insisting to officers that she was simply petting the animal.

Following the police interview, Nummerdor was taken into custody. She was booked into the Charlotte County Jail, where jail records and media reports highlight that she posed for her official mugshot with a broad, toothy grin. Her social media profile indicates that she shares two boys with her husband, whom she married in the year 2023.
