Mahindra launches BE 6 Sporteq electric SUV with revised interior and new battery
Mahindra has expanded its electric vehicle lineup with the updated BE 6 SPORTEQ series, offering a new 70kWh battery option and interior revisions.

Reported by outlets including Cardekho and Timesnownews, the release on Saturday, 15 August 2026 introduces a broad pricing spectrum alongside alternative ownership models.
Pricing for the new series begins at ₹11.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for customers opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, as detailed by Businesstoday. Under the BaaS structure, battery rental is priced at ₹3.75 per km based on a daily usage assumption, while battery-inclusive variants start at ₹19.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 59kWh battery configuration. Across the entire eight-variant lineup, prices stretch up to ₹26.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-tier trims equipped with the larger 79kWh battery packs. All prices exclude the wall charger and installation costs.

Cabin Upgrades and Technology Suites
While the exterior retains the aggressive coupe-like silhouette, sharp lines, and C-shaped connected LED daytime running lights seen on earlier models, the interior undergoes substantial revision. Lower variants of the BE 6 continue to feature a black and dark green interior theme, but higher trims introduce a black and tan cabin theme utilizing premium tan leatherette upholstery across the dashboard, seats, and door pads, complemented by gloss-black inserts on the centre console.
A major mechanical and layout shift from the TWO variant onward is the integration of a three-screen, coast-to-coast digital cockpit. Adopting this screen setup required removing the central 'halo' partition, which successfully liberates additional space for front cupholders. Cardekho notes that the BE 6 offers a boot space of 455 litres alongside a 45-litre front trunk for portable chargers and small items.
The series debuts six new TEQ Suites powered by Mahindra's MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture) platform. Among these features is TEQ Talk, built with Google Gemini and backed by 17 specialised artificial intelligence agents to permit natural-language control over more than 100 vehicle functions and 48 apps, including navigation, music, news, and vehicle controls. Additional suites encompass TEQ Play—which features karaoke, in-car gaming, private audio, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos—as well as TEQ Drive, TEQ Me, and TEQ Secure, the latter providing Secure360 Pro with live view, audio relay, intrusion alerts, and digital key support across iPhone, Apple Watch, Android, and Samsung devices alongside NFC key cards. Personalised tailgate messaging is also included.
Battery Options, Range, and Special Editions
The BE 6 SPORTEQ introduces a brand-new 70 kWh battery pack option capable of delivering a range of 651 km, joining the carrying-over 59 kWh and 79 kWh drivetrains. The 79 kWh battery variant supports DC fast charging up to 180 kW, permitting a top-up from 20 percent to 80 percent in a span of 20 minutes.
The lineup also features distinct special variants across 12 total colour options, which include three new shades: Ruby Velvet, Rosso Impulso, and Graphite Storm. The top-positioned Launch Edition arrives with a Graphite Storm exterior paired with a Racing Tan interior. Meanwhile, the Formula E Freedom Edition takes an alternate approach by retaining the original two-screen cockpit layout and signature halo design, while layering on race-inspired tricolour accents, satin finishes including Rosso Impulso, a Black and Firestorm Orange interior, larger 20-inch wheels, and an Acceleration Boost function capable of cutting the 0-100 km/h time down to 6.44 seconds. According to Timesnownews and Businesstoday, the Formula E Freedom Edition is priced at ₹24.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the FE variant, while the FE Four costs ₹26.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
Cardekho reports that the refreshed model competes against vehicles such as the Tata Sierra EV, VinFast VF7, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV, and Toyota Ebella.
