UK to supply Saudi Arabia with defensive refuelling via RAF Voyager

On 21 September a new chapter in Britain’s Middle‑East policy opened as Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced that the United Kingdom will provide defensive air‑to‑air refuelling to Saudi Arabia. The move follows a surge of Houthi drone and missile attacks on Saudi territory and the kingdom’s key shipping lanes. The RAF Voyager that will be deployed is one of nine core tankers on the Royal Air Force’s books – eight military registered and one civilian registered – with an additional five available for recall.
