New Avengers Series – Marvel Unearths Dead Superheroes! – BZ Berlin

Pretty visionary … Almost a year after the start of Disney +, especially “Star Wars” fans are enthusiastic thanks to “The Mandalorian”. Now the Marvel community is finally getting its food too: With “WandaVision” Walt Disney is sending the first series from its own Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU for short) into the streaming race.

But that creates huge question marks. “Avengers” has never been so strange. But never so surprising either – finally something different!

BZ has seen the first two episodes and is drawing first conclusions:

So far, all works from this huge story franchise have appeared in the cinema as fat blockbuster films. Almost two years after the brilliant “Avengers: Endgame”, the show “WandaVision”, incidentally the first contribution to the new “Phase 4”, continues the Marvel cosmos.

Who tunes in – two episodes have already appeared on Disney +, there is a fresh supply every Friday – but first has to pinch. Because what a confusing spectacle is going on here is really not used from Marvel.

At this point you will find content from Youtube

In order to interact with or display content from social networks, we need your consent.

As the title suggests, it is about Avengers members Wanda Maximoff alias Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).

But isn’t the latter dead? In the film “Avengers: Infinity War”, Ober-Fiesling Thanos carried the hero into the afterlife. And it stayed that way. Now vision, actually an artificial intelligence, is alive again.

Why? The series leaves this question open for now, as well as all other puzzles and oddities. The result: The fans are stunned and confused.

Because “WandaVision” hits the tried and tested Marvel viewer quite on the head. Wanda and Vision don’t go hunting for villains in exciting action scenes or hang out with Hulk and Co. – instead, the pair of lovers live in an American suburban idyll from the 1950s and can deal with everyday trivia.

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany at the presentation of (Photo: picture alliance)

Wanda has to chat with the annoying neighbor on the sofa, while Vision does an office job and always makes a mistake in front of his boss. As if that weren’t curious enough, the picture is kept completely black and white and shown in a 4: 3 look, as on the old TV telly. You have to get used to it.

AND: Instead of huge Marvel drama like in the cinema, the makers serve “WandaVision” like a classic sitcom, with a laugh in the background. What is going on here?

The fact that series boss Jac Schaeffer has planned a lot more here is indicated when Wanda and Vision themselves get the thought that not everything is going well. In episode one, for example, Visions boss visits the hero couple for dinner together. When asked how she ended up here, Wanda seems to be pondering a lot. And in episode two, a mysterious voice on the radio speaks directly to her …

With this seemingly simple sitcom, the secrets are in the details

A wine bottle, for example, is named “Maison du Mépris” – a reference to the Marvel comic “House of M”? In this, Wanda creates a new reality to deal with the loss of her children. Then why not after Vision’s death?

► Attention, little spoiler (!): This possible explanation becomes clear again in the second episode, when Wanda turns back the time for a few minutes because she does not want to accept a fateful event that has just happened.

And at the very end of the debut episode, the camera suddenly moves out of the picture, we now see in color how someone unknown is looking at what is happening on a monitor. Barely recognizable: the logo of SWORD, a secret organization that emerges from the already well-known SHIELD group.

Are Maximoff and Android Vision trapped in a TV show or part of a SWORD experiment? In the huge Marvel-Mulitversum everything is now conceivable. And: In “Spider-Man: Far From Home” we saw the SWORD organization after the credits, which are apparently planning something big.

The end of “WandaVision” should be awesome

Vision actor Paul Bettany promises clarification: “Episode after episode, week after week, Vision understands that things are not right. Something is wrong with this city, ”the actor told“ Collider ”.

And then? According to Bettany, we get to see “the most epic of all endings”. If that doesn’t make you want more...

▶ ︎ “WandaVision” is only the starting signal for a new Marvel era. The series “Loki” and “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will soon follow on the in-house streaming service, with nine (!) Films in the works by 2023 in the cinema.

What is the lightsaber used for?

new uses of lightsabers star wars the high republic alta republica 0

Lucasfilm / IMDB | Star Wars

A lightsaber does not make the Jedi in Star Wars, but it is certainly a great help to have one on hand, due to the multiple uses that the guards gave to these fine weapons.

Jedi In Attack Of The Clones Star Wars
Jedi In Attack Of The Clones Star Wars

In several movies and series, we saw that lightsabers are their main weapons for the Jedi, and we even witnessed how Obi-Wan scolded Anakin on a couple of occasions for playing with such a precious artifact.

“A noble weapon, for more civilized times”

The main use of lightsabers is obviously attack, but they are also very useful to protect their user from blaster shots, to open impenetrable doors or even, as we saw with the Inquisitors in Rebels, they work like an improvised helicopter.

In Light of the jedi, the first book of the High Republic era, they revealed an ancient use for the Jedi saber that surely no fan expected.

The High Republic is the period in the galaxy that occurred 200 years before the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo (The Phantom Menace), and is characterized as the period of greatest prosperity for the Republic, mainly due to the heyday of the Jedi Order.

At that time, Jedi truly felt like the protectors of peace, as they had full control of the Force, were noble, and always put the safety and well-being of others before their own.

The new use of lightsabers (old, in this case), comes from Avar Kriss, one of the most powerful and respected Jedi masters in the High Republic.

For Avar, his emerald-colored lightsaber with a cross-hilt is not just a weapon, it is an instrument he uses to connect with the Force.

Avar is a Jedi expert in natural ties to the Force, as she has the ability to hear the Force as if it were a song.

The Jedi Master uses the Force to spin her lightsaber in the air, and the faster she does so, the sooner a noise is created that becomes a Force song, described as Light of the Jedi.

“The weapon began to turn, slowly, like a mill blade. It made a sound as it moved through the air, a low, monotonous hum. Avar breathed in, inhaled, exhaled, and the blade sped up slowly. “

«The tone of its passage through the air changed, it was no longer a low hum but a higher tone, a lovely round note. The lightsaber moved faster, its blade now too fast to see; a circle of green light with a shiny metallic center.

It was beautiful, but Avar closed his eyes. She didn’t need to see. He needed to listen. His lightsaber wasn’t just a weapon. Here, now … it was an instrument »

From the beginning, it was made clear in Star Wars that Jedi have a very special connection to their lightsaber, thanks to the kyber crystal inside, but the song of the Force makes that connection even deeper.

Ava Kriss, her lightsaber and the Force unite in perfect harmony, and they fight to protect a cause they deem just.

Star Wars

In the High Republic the Jedi had spaceships that only they could pilot, since a lightsaber is needed for them to work.

These small data, and others that will be discovered as the other stories of the High Republic become known, are the evidence that shows that the Jedi in the time of Anakin Skywalker were very disconnected with the Force, and that they were far from being the true ones projectors of the peace of the Republic.

What to see at Disney + Plus Mexico

Since its launch in the United States and Canada In 2019, the expectation of the premiere of Disney + in Mexico was greatly increased. However, it took a year for it to finally make its debut in the national territory. Faced with this long wait, you may be wondering “Was it worth it?” If you already have your subscription or if you have not yet encouraged to register, in this note we will tell you what they are the most striking titles in its catalog, so you can enjoy them with whoever you want.

Compared to other streaming platforms, Disney Plus is practically in its infancy, especially in those countries where it was released last year. However, in defense of the service of the famous mouse, it has endearing movies, series and documentaries that have the magic of most childhoods, an element for which Disney + does not ask or envy anything to those offered in Netflix O Amazon Prime Video.

Disney's streaming platform offers various titles that will make you spend hours and more hours in front of the screen

Disney’s streaming platform offers various titles that will make you spend hours and more hours in front of the screen / Source: screenshot

To unravel what you can see on Disney +, let’s start by pointing out that this platform has 5 content pillars: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. In these 5 “slopes” series, animations and films are accumulated whose temporality ranges from the very very distant 1937 to the very recent 2020. It is worth mentioning that productions of the American television network are also included Fox, which are part of the Disney macrouniverse.

Well, once the above is clarified, let’s start with the recommendations to see on Disney +, first clarifying that to date the catalog has just over 600 titles, so we will only give you a few recommendations and it will be up to you to continue exploring the magical world of Disney+ on your own.

Let’s start with the latest animation from Pixar Animation Studios and, yes, we mean the very popular movie “Soul“Surely, you have come across different publications and even memes on social networks praising the message of this production. And it is that, moving away from the form and entering fully into the background, the film directed by Pete Docter seeks to make viewers Reflect on life, yes no matter how simple it sounds, but as a song by the great Lennon says “life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.”

What is Soul about? In short, it tells the story of a music teacher, who, after suffering an accident before finally fulfilling his dream of becoming an acclaimed jazz exponent, undertakes a journey to the “beyond” that, although it will return him to life on Earth will make you reflect in the process. Critics have described Soul as the film of Pixar that has been more oriented to the adult public so far.

And taking advantage of the fact that we are with Pixar, one of the great classics that Disney + offers is “Toy Story“Who won’t take a few hours out of their day to relive the story of the adventures of the little toy cowboy Woody and the space agent (not a toy cough cough cough) Buzz Lightyear? This is the first feature film from the studio film and also the first production that was animated using only digital effects in the entire history of cinema. To date, the saga has 4 films to its credit, the last released last June 2019.

Well, well, but if your thing is more Disney movies with sung dialogues at all times, the platform also offers you one of its most sung productions and with more memes in history, well, what if we make a doll? Taking advantage of the cold fronts lurking in Mexico, we want to take a look at “FrozenIn this frozen adventure you will meet Princess Elsa, Princess Anna, Kristoff and Olaf.

But maybe you don’t want to see any animation and something with a lot of action (ha, it even rhymed), for which Uncle Disney has prepared most of the movies for you. UCM (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Just to give yourself a blast, among the productions of your favorite heroes are the films of Thor, Iron Man, Black Panter and, of course, Avengers: Endgame. If you want to mourn the heroic death of the egocentric, philanthropic and playboy Stark, go ahead.

Since we are into movies, let’s refer to one of the most exploited franchises by Disney: Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney + makes available to Jhonny Depp fans one of its most iconic characters. Although the future of this series is uncertain for now, due to the fact that Depp was removed from the script and fans of the pirates in the Black Pearl are not very excited about the idea of seeing Margot Robbie in command, it will always be good to return to recall the early adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley).

Now that if your mere mole is the combat in space full of dramas, in Disney Plus you can have access to the different film productions of Star Wars (Star Wars), including what is considered his best installment “Star Wars: Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back and its successful and acclaimed series The mandalorian, so you can get involved with the little Baby Yoda (Yes, yes, we already know that his name is Grogu, but it is more tender to say Baby Yoda, what if?).

Some other titles you can entertain yourself with are: “10 things I hate about you”; “My poor angel”; “Malefic“; “Hocus Pocus”; “The Grastest Showman“;” Avatar “;” Tron “and”Togo“. The above are a mix of genres and we are sure that you will like some of them. Ahh also, we are days away from the premiere of the WandaVision miniseries, one of Disney’s promises for this 2021.

Read more: (Surprising premieres arrive on Netflix in January 2021, meet the new series)

So far we have come with this note, we do not want to make you read more than necessary, the best thing is that you start exploring on your streaming platform and discover for yourself the series, documentaries, films and other ideal for you.

With nothing to see on Disney Plus? See the best shorts of the app

One of the advantages of the platform streaming of Disney is that it has special content that could only be seen in some movies, channels or even in the country.

Within these offers are several shorts that tell stories for all types of audiences: from fans of Marvel, even the staunch lovers of Toy Story. Here’s a list of the best.

The shorts of Ant-Man They have two peculiarities. The first is that they have an aesthetic very similar to that of the animations of the 60s or 70s that developed the company started by Stan Lee.

The second one is that it shows the adventures of Scott Lang, a character that was included in the films of the UCM instead of Hank Pym, the first man to wear the suit of the Super Hero that shrinks.

So far the series has a single season of six humorous episodes and in which Lang faces everyday problems of a peculiar character.

Forky asks

The fork that appeared in the fourth installment of Toy Story has its own series of shorts across the platform. In eight episodes, the newest of Bonnie interacts with their counterparts.

In addition to posing situations that the little ones can understand quickly, the chapters of no more than six minutes serve as a way to teach the little ones typical questions such as the use of money, friendship or time.

However, you can also find some shorts that did not reach theaters through the catalog of Sparkshots.

How is it recommended?Purl??, the adventures of a ball of yarn that wants to succeed in the business world or ??Fleet??, the story of a boy who can fly and whose father tries to hide this from the world.

10 series to watch with your children on Disney +

Between the cold snap and the restrictions, we find ourselves again as in confinement: with some extra time to watch series as a family. As we know the offer can be overwhelming and confusing, here are some safe bets, in this case available on Disney +.

1. ‘The Mandalorian’

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ve heard of the show that restored faith in the Force. If there is Disney + in your house, it must be partly because of it. But even if it has already been seen, it does not hurt to review the adventures of the title’s bounty hunter and that adorable creature that we mistakenly agreed to call Baby Yoda. It’s what the ‘Star wars’ saga should never have stopped being: fun.

2. ‘Diary of a future president ‘

For a long time, Disney + has been talked about as “the platform for ‘The Mandalorian'”, but in its catalog of exclusive titles we find other series that deserve a chance. For example, this adorable sitcom about the school days of Elena Cañero-Reed (Tess Romero), future Cuban-American president of the United States. Gina Rodriguez (star of ‘Jane The Virgin’) plays the heroine when she grew up, in addition to directing the first episode and producing.

3. ‘High school musical: the musical – the series’

As the ‘Saved by the Bell’ reboot has recently shown, not all resurrections of a franchise are to be boring exploits of nostalgia. This is clever from the title, which explains more or less what the thing is about: this is a comedy in the form of a mockumentary about a high school that puts on the musical based on the original 2006 TV movie. The ‘skater’ Ricky (Joshua Bassett) shows up for tryouts just to be closer to his ex-girlfriend Nini (Olivia Rodrigo, keep her name). Songs, laughter and drama (the righteous) follow.

4. ‘Ducklings’

In this case, we are not referring to the recent revival, but to the original from 1989, one of the best animated series ever. The adventures of Uncle Scrooge and his three nephews are a legacy that must be passed on to generations to come. After Donald Duck enlisted in the Navy (he’s serious), Gilito was left in charge of Jaimito, Jorgito and Juanito (all the same except for the color of the cap), who accompanied him to the most exotic places in search of incalculable treasures .

5. ‘The Imagineering story’

What’s behind the incredible attractions of the twelve Disney theme parks? A mixture of imagination and engineering: for a reason, the division that built them is called Imagineering. In this documentary series we learn about the construction of all these dream places, from the seminal Disneyland to that new area of it, Galaxy’s Edge, dedicated to ‘Star wars’. Directs Leslie Iwerks, nominated for an Oscar in 2007 for her short documentary ‘Recycled life’, about the daily life in the garbage dump of zone 3 of Guatemala.

6. ‘Gravity Falls’

This animated Alex Hirsch creation didn’t last long, just four years, from 2012 to 2016, but as it did so it got into the dreams of children and not so children. All thanks to a mythology as dense as those of, say, ‘The X-Files’ or ‘Lost’. Twin brothers Dipper and Mabel Pines were going to spend the summer with their great-uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon, where they discovered a most unexpected bestiary.

7. ‘Phineas y Ferb’

It all started with a triangular boy drawn on a paper tablecloth in a restaurant. His name: Phineas. Then came his stepbrother (and best friend) Ferb, with the head of a rectangle. And Candace, the sister who watches over the Wonder Duo’s experiments, their roller coasters, robotic versions of themselves, or re-enactments of the Trojan War. Candace recently had the opportunity to shine in ‘Phineas & Ferb, the movie: Candace vs. the universe’, in which she changes from being a simple spoiler to become a proactive heroine.

8. ‘More Muppets than ever’

Nothing like the original Muppet shows and movies (better known here as the Muppets), but this update on their adventures has moments of not inconsiderable delirium. Basically, the series is a walk through an imaginary YouTube. Gustavo, Miss Peggy, Gonzo and some new characters present common types of content ‘online’, although there is also space for a contest or almost traditional interviews (to people like RuPaul, Seth Rogen and Aubrey Plaza). Updated (plush) idols.

9. ‘Pixar from within’

Once Pixar shorts and movies have been viewed a thousand times, why not know how they were made? ‘Pixar from within’ is, like the series about the filming of ‘The mandalorian’, basically a collection of DVD extras, but some DVD extras are wonderful, like the episodes of this series, come on. In the first episode, the playwright and screenwriter Kemp Powers explains how he arrived at a key scene in ‘Soul’, the film with which Pixar made us happy and emotionally crumbled this Christmas.

10. ‘The Simpsons’

It may interest you

Yes, that’s right, ‘The Simpsons’. Especially since it’s been a while since classic episodes have been seen in their original 4: 3 aspect ratio (go to ‘details’ in the series and uncheck ‘remastered aspect ratio’). On the other hand, some recent episodes are well worth a viewing, especially the eighth of Halloween (‘Treehouse of Horror XXX’) or the crossover with Marvel Studios (‘Bad Bart’). Trusted family, at least when it comes to entertainment.

‘Star Wars’ updates its chronology

Star Wars is a saga that has never stopped expanding, if we do not count the time that Disney acquired Lucasfilm and removed from the canon a good handful of stories outside the movies (the known, now, as ‘Star Wars Legends’). After the controversial experience with the new trilogy, however, the House of the Mouse seems to have begun to get the hang of the juicy license it has in its hands (thanks, above all, to The Mandalorian) and this has resulted in a multitude of announcements that will make the continuity of the saga something much more confusing than it already is. Weeks after a dozen new movies and series were confirmed during Investor Day, we now have the tools to position ourselves.

Until now, the timeline of Star Wars It had been divided into three simple phases, corresponding to the different trilogies to which it gave rise: the prequels belonged to the Era of the republic, the original trilogy to Era of the Rebellion, and the three recent films by J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson to Era of the Resistance, distributing the various spin-off between the margins. On the occasion of the publication of the novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi at the hands of Charles Soule, Disney has carried out a restructuring of this chronology, so that it is now divided into six different periods. You can see a sample image below these lines.

New ‘Star Wars’ chronology

We try to sow some clarity. The era known as ‘The High Republic’ It does not yet have an associated series or film, but it is easy to place it in historical terms. Soule’s novel belongs to this space, with the idea that it gives rise to a whole collection of new plots, and starts with the purpose of clarifying what happened before The Phantom Menace, he Episodio I of George Lucas. We also know of the existence of The Accolyte, series announced during Investor Day that promises to show the most terrifying facet of the galaxy and, according to what was stated at the time, is set “In the last days of the High Republic”.

‘Fall of the Jedi’ includes the three prequels directed by Lucas: the aforementioned Ghost menace, Attack of the clones and Revenge of the Sith. Throughout this stage, the rise of Emperor Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker’s fall to the Dark Side and the Jedi purge took place, as well as the great military conflict known as the Clone Wars. Hence, in addition to the movies, ‘The Fall of the Jedi’ also includes the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, developed by Dave Filoni.

‘The reign of the Empire’ develops immediately in later years, and covers the timeframe between Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is included here, as is also confirmed to do The Bad Batch, Filoni’s upcoming animated series. Pulling from logic, we can also include other series announced as Country and Obi-Wan Kenobi; the latter being starred by a Ewan McGregor newly exiled and a Hayden Christensen under Darth Vader’s helmet.

Without much news with ‘The Age of Rebellion’; we find again in it the original trilogy of Star Wars made of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but they are also officially included in it Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Pulling the thread, it would not be unreasonable to add Andor, the future series starring Diego Luna which refers to events prior to Rogue One.

The margin between the Age of Rebellion and the Age of Resistance now has a name: this is ‘The New Republic’, and spans the years of deceptive peace that traversed the galaxy between wars. We have already been able to explore this phase and will continue to explore it thanks to The Mandalorian, and it is to be assumed that the series Ahsoka (with the Jedi played by Rosario Dawson), Rangers of the New Republic and The Book of Boba Fett (which would arrive in December of this year).

By last, ‘The rise of the First Order’ It includes The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The rise of Skywalker, as well as another animated series: Star Wars Resistance. After what was narrated in The rise of Skywalker nothing is known yet, but it is probably a matter of time before Disney sets a new movie or series in this indeterminate future.

The Mandalorian ranks as the most pirated series du

The year of the pandemic has been the time when the most time has been spent at home, and to cope with the situation, many people have turned to television series and movies, specifically in this case illegally, making The Mandalorian the most hacked of the year.

‘The Mandalorian, created by Jon Favreau, It is the series that has been illegally downloaded the most times during the 2020 pandemic year.

Serie ‘The Mandalorian’

About of an unreal universe, inspired by the saga Star Wars‘. During throughout 2019, the series was two places below the ranking, occupying the third position, but the pandemic and home confinements have helped the series have had more downloads than two years ago. Thus, it becomes the most downloaded series and ignores The Boys‘ already Westworld‘, the other two most watched series this year, being configured in second and third place respectively.

The adventures of the first two seasons of the series released in the months of March and November have caught the attention of all viewers looking for action, characters with charisma and comedy.

Each of the three series most demanded by the public has a different theme, since the great diversity of options is one of the characteristics that most favor the version streaming from the world of technologies.

Therefore, the fact of being able to consider that there are four series within the Top 10 that did not appear in the same ranking during 2019, a fact that demonstrates with evidence the good reception that the series has had ‘The Boys’, the growing popularity it has had ‘Star Trek: Picard’, and the doubts that HBO has about whether or not to go ahead with the second season of ‘The visitor’.

On the part of ‘WestWorld’ There was no season at any time in 2019, a fact that denotes that in the previous year it did not appear on the list. By contrast, it was the series ‘Chernobyl’ the one that ranked second during that year.

Disney+ VS. HBO Max

One of the most important things is not only the success you have had Disney+ with the most downloaded series of the year, but also continues to grow thanks to other types of films, and positioning itself higher and higher.

An example of this is the large number of downloads that movies found on the platform are having, such as’Soul’ and ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, since they are two of the great bets that he has made Disney+ With HBO Max so that the number of customers during Christmas increased. Between those two movies, ‘Soul’ has generated greater interest from Disney+ what ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ by HBO Max.

When it comes to putting figures on this, according to the data it provides Bloomberg, the mobile application for HBO Max had a total of 544.000 downloads during December 25 and 27, completing a record for the short life of the platform.

By contrast, the application of Disney+ had a total of 2.3 million of downloads, positioning the platform with a growth of a 28% compared to the previous week.

Meets the characteristics that people consider “cute”

Baby Yoda’s physical characteristics are considered cute or cuddly and that becomes an automatic stimulus for us to try to protect him at all costs. According to science, the reason we lose our minds over Baby Yoda is precisely because his physical appearance meets prototypically cute traits like. Evolutionary scientists say those big, gaudy eyes, oversized ears, and short, clumsy limbs that characterize human babies (and many pets) are the things that make everyone love them. But honestly, these were all characteristics of the original Yoda as well even though it doesn’t compare to Baby Yoda.
