Iran launches drone strikes on US bases in Bahrain and Jordan

Iran’s army said on Friday it carried out drone strikes against several American military facilities and bases in Bahrain and Jordan in retaliation for the latest U.S. Attacks against the Islamic republic. "This morning, the fuel tanks, large equipment warehouses and silos and the barracks of the U.S. Terrorist army forces at the Isa Air Base in Bahrain were targeted by Arash kamikaze drones," the army said in a statement carried by state TV. Tehran stated the attacks were a response to the ongoing U.S. Air campaign in the region.

The drone raids occurred after the United States completed its 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iran. U.S. Central Command stated the campaign intends to hold Iran accountable and diminish threats to commercial shipping. Also on Friday morning, U.S.-led forces intercepted five hostile drones over Irbil, Iraq, according to local security officials. "Fortunately, the incident caused no casualties or damage," they said.

Abbas Araghchi issued his warning at a meeting of foreign ministers in Kyrgyzstan, asserting that Iran reserves the right to take measures within the framework of self-defense. Tehran maintains that any facility in the Middle East used by the U.S. For strikes against Iran is a legitimate target.

An AFP journalist in Bahrain reported an explosion and the sounding of warning sirens in the country on Friday morning, though it wasn't immediately clear if the two events were linked. Bahrain, which is home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, said it intercepted and shot down Iranian aerial attacks on Friday.

President Trump wrote on Truth Social that "any and all damages" to ships struck by Iran "will be paid for by Iranian Money that the United States has in its possession, and controls." He also cautioned Iran and Houthi forces of potential “major military punishment.”

A border crossing between Kuwait and Iraq was targeted by drones, the Kuwaiti army said on X. The army said the attack caused damage but no injuries. U.S. Officials, who spoke to CBS News on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the topic, said the U.S. Cannot sustain the rate at which it expended precision munitions early in the campaign against Iran.
